The Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Cairo on Friday, with hosts Egypt taking on Zimbabwe at the Cairo International Stadium, and the city has been preparing for this day for months.

With Afcon originally slated to be played in Cameroon, and then shifted to accommodate Ramadan, Egypt's preparations have continued apace despite various upheavals, the latest of which sees FIFA taking over African football in the wake of numerous scandals.

But football, and the fans who follow the Beautiful Game, continues to move forward, with murals of Mo (plenty of them), and mascots, and match balls on show.
