Ex-AC Milan boss Cristian Brocchi named manager of Silvio Berlusconi's Monza

Former AC Milan boss Cristian Brocchi has been appointed as manager of Monza, recently bought by bought by former Rossoneri owner Silvio Berlusconi.

Brocchi has replaced Marco Zaffaroni, who was dismissed after a five-match winless streak with the club sitting 10th in Serie C Group B.

This will be Brocchi's third stint in management, having briefly taken charge of Milan for the final five matches of the 2015-16 campaign, following the sacking of Sinisa Mihajlovic. However, he was replaced by Vincenzo Montella that summer.

He then took over as manager of Serie B side Brescia in the following campaign, before being dismissed in March -- and more recently served as assistant to Cosmin Olaroiu at Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.

As a player, Brocchi started his career at Milan, before joining Milan, where made over 100 appearances across six seasons, winning the Champions League twice, as well as a Serie A title, Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

He also played for Fiorentina and Lazio before retiring in 2013.
