Man United to play preseason game vs. Real Betis in San Diego

Manchester United are set to play LaLiga outfit Real Betis in a preseason friendly on July 31 at San Diego's Snapdragon Stadium.

United spent much of their 2023 preseason tour in San Diego, training at the university's premises in the city, but this year will be based in Los Angeles.

The game against Betis will be bookended by contests against Premier League opposition.

The club's preseason tour begins with a game against Arsenal on July 27 at the 70,000-seat SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California -- the home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.

United then face Liverpool on Aug. 3 at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, marking the biggest club soccer game ever played at the 77,559-capacity Williams-Brice Stadium.

It is the second straight summer that Arsenal and Man United will face each other in the U.S., following their sold-out match at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium in July 2023.

Betis are seventh in LaLiga under the stewardship of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, well in the race for European competition.

United's under-21s played against Wrexham at Snapdragon Stadium last year in a game that is best remembered for the Welsh team's star Paul Mullin suffering a punctured lung after a challenge from now Sunderland goalkeeper Nathan Bishop.
