Barcelona announced they've signed 19-year-old midfielder Carles Alena to a contract extension which increased his buyout clause to €75 million if he's promoted to the first team. Alena extended his stay with the Camp Nou club for a further three years, with Barcelona holding the option to lengthen his deal two more years if Alena becomes a regular in the senior team. Alena, who joined the Barcelona academy at age seven, has made four appearance for the senior team thus far, scoring a goal on his debut against Hercules in the Copa del Rey last season. A Spain youth international, Alena featured for his country's Under 16, 17 and 19 teams. Upon signing the new deal, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu tweeted: "The deal between @CarlesAle10 and FC Barcelona has been signed. "Dedication and talent from the youth ranks. Congratulations!"
