In the match of the weekend, Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the Clasico to extend their lead in La Liga table to four points. Lionel Messi was quiet by his recent standards, but he assisted on a goal by Jeremy Mathieu and Luis Suarez added another to help Barca to the big win. Cristiano Ronaldo scored Real's lone goal. The Champions League round of 16 is done and dusted (here's what you missed). Now it's on to the quarterfinals, which feature some juicy matchups that will all prove fairly hard to predict. Manchester United went to Anfield and earned a crucial three points in a 2-1 win versus Liverpool. Juan Mata had two goals for United, but the story of the game was the sending off of Reds' captain Steven Gerrard. Jurgen Klinsmann announced the national team's roster for Wednesday's friendly at Denmark (3 p.m. ET, ESPN2/WatchESPN) and another on March 31 against Switzerland. There were some surprises, like the inclusion of Julian Green, who has struggled of late and is not getting regular time at club level. Over in Serie A, Juventus continued their mid-week Champions League form earning three points in a 1-0 win versus Genoa. The Turin-based club have essentially sewn up the Scudetto, but a very interesting race is shaping up behind them for the final Champions League spots from Serie A.
