Paul Pogba: Manchester United exit reports 'will always be just rumours'

Paul Pogba has said "it will always be just rumours" of a move away from Old Trafford, telling Telefoot: "As long as you don't see me like that with the shirt, it's not official."

The Manchester United midfielder was a target for Barcelona for much of the summer transfer window amid rumours of a rift with Jose Mourinho.

"I am under contract with Manchester United," he told Telefoot. "There have always been little things with the coach, our relationship is still the same, manager-player.

"We have common objectives, which are to win."

Pogba was then asked about specific rumours regarding Barcelona's interest.

"As long as you don't see me like that with the shirt, it's not official. It will always be just rumours," Pogba said as he mimed holding up a club shirt,

Pogba was made captain for the opening match of the Premier League season against Leicester City, but fuelled speculation he was unhappy in his postmatch interview in which he said: "There are things, and there are things that I cannot say, otherwise I will get fined."

He joined up with the France squad last week  for the UEFA Nations League match with Germany and, on Thursday, added further uncertainty over his future by saying: "I currently play for Manchester United, but who knows what will happen next." Though, he later claimed: "It's not me who is talking."

Despite the continued uncertainty, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC they are confident they can convince Pogba his long-term future is at United. However, contract talks with the 25-year-old for the time being.
