Wes Fogden helps nine-man Yeovil avoid FA Cup upset at Maidstone

Wes Fogden's second-half winner saw Yeovil overcome their two-man disadvantage and beat Maidstone United 1-0 in the FA Cup first round. The Glovers had centre-back Jakub Sokolik and later goalkeeper Artur Krysiak sent off, but snatched victory on the back of Fogden's goal. The former Bournemouth midfielder - ravaged by injury in recent seasons - hit Yeovil's winner 10 minutes into the second half.Maidstone keeper Lee Worgan failed to get a decent clearance on Ryan Dickson's free-kick and the ball ran loose and Fogden drilled a low shot into the corner.Yeovil were reduced to 10 men after only seven minutes when Sokolik was sent off.The Yeovil central defender got a straight red for a low, lunging challenge on Maidstone midfielder James Rogers. But despite their industrious work rate, they offered little threat, with Alex Osborn forcing two corners and Rogers drilling a speculative shot high and wide.Just two minutes after Fogden's winner, goalkeeper Krysiak was sent off for upending Osborn outside the box as the midfield man ran through. But substitute goalkeeper Chris Weale was relatively untroubled as Yeovil's gritty nine men held on, with substitute Alex Akrofi having a Maidstone equaliser disallowed for offside late on.
