LIVERPOOL, England -- Liverpool and Chelsea are still trying to reach an agreement on the compensation for Dominic Solanke without the need for a tribunal, sources have told ESPN FC. Solanke, 20, scored his first goal for Liverpool on Sunday since his free transfer from Chelsea last summer. Due to Solanke's age and the fact he was offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are entitled to compensation. It was thought the figure would be decided by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) at a tribunal, but a source told ESPN FC that the two Premier League clubs have been waiting until the end of the season before they continue discussions about the player's value at the time of his move. Solanke had been at Chelsea since he was 8 but decided to leave in favour of more first-team opportunities at Liverpool after having played just 17 minutes of senior action. Should the clubs be unable to agree on the amount of compensation themselves, the PFCC will determine Solanke's cost based on a number of factors, including his playing record, the terms of the contract offered to him, the length of time at his previous club and interest shown by other teams. Those factors are only considered relevant at the time of his transfer, with Solanke also going on to make his England debut as a Liverpool player. Solanke's wait to score for Liverpool ended in Sunday's 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield. The striker has made 27 appearances, six of which have been starts, in all competitions for Liverpool this season. "For Dom, we are so happy to have him but the season is long [with] ups and downs for a young player, especially if you don't play often," manager Jurgen Klopp said on Sunday. "The start was brilliant and then he had no chance to play because the other boys played fantastic and then he was a little bit in this kind of a hole. Since three or four weeks, he is back, and it is really nice to see him. "It was really nice and the goal ... I didn't see it back until now, but it looked like it was quite a good one and I am happy for him. He had a big smile on his face after the game. Well deserved."
