LIVE Transfer Talk: Barcelona's Coutinho seeks Man United escape

The transfer window for Europe's biggest clubs is closed, but click here for all the deals, and keep track of who has joined the big boys. Transfer Talk will continue to scour the world's media and set correspondents loose to see what's on the agenda for the summer.

TOP STORY: Coutinho seeks United rescue from Barcelona nightmare

Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho has reportedly issued a "come and get me" plea to Manchester United, as the Brazilian desperately seeks to end his Camp Nou nightmare.

The Brazilian was jeered during his side's 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night, and the former Liverpool man had apparently told friends that he is still having difficulties settling in the Catalan capital, over a year after joining the club.

The 26-year-old has failed to recapture his dazzling Anfield form since arriving at Barca, and The Sunday Mirror has revealed that Coutinho has spoken to a number of United players in order to sound out a move to Old Trafford.

Reports claim that £100m will be enough to secure the playmaker's signature, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side aren't the only ones in the hunt, with Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on the Barcelona No. 7.

22.48 GMT: That'll do it for Sunday's edition of Transfer Talk! Check back in tomorrow morning for a fresh round of transfer news!

21.23 GMT: The Evening Standard reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has denied that David de Gea was distracted by his contract situation during Manchester United's 2-0 loss to rivals Arsenal.

Could this be a sign of instability at Old Trafford? Watch this space.

20.23 GMT: The Liverpool Echo reports that Matthijs de Ligt is open to the idea of moving to Liverpool and linking up with his international teammate, Virgil van Dijk

The 19-year-old Ajax captain praised van Dijk's experience, saying, "Of course, you would want to learn from him."

19.15 GMT: talkSport reports that Arsenal will be challenging Atletico Madrid for Ajax starlet Nicolas Tagliafico's signature. Tagliafico has registered 5 goals and 5 assists across 31 appearances this season as a left-back.

Ajax are reportedly prepared to allow him to depart for a small sum of £8 million pounds, which will obviously set off a huge chase for the Argentine.

18.17 GMT: Real Madrid are looking to make a eye-catching £145 million move for Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino, according to football.london. It remains to be seen whether this will be a fruitful venture or not, but Real Madrid certainly need help after crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Ajax.

17.21 GMT: According to talkSport, Tottenham are monitoring Real Madrid target Giovani Lo Celso, currently at Real Betis on loan from PSG. He has 12 goals this season and is being looked at as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.

16.13 GMT: Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas hasn't had much of a chance to shine at Stamford Bridge and, despite being "highly-rated" he's on loan at Bristol City.

The Czech international is now of interest to Celtic, with Dedryck Boyata expected to leave and Felip Benkovic and Jeremy Toljan only being there on loan.

The Daily Record says that Rangers are also keen, so we could have an Old Firm battle on our hands.

15.20 GMT: Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has had a good season to date and that's been enough for clubs in China to show an interest in him.

Guangzhou Evergrande are leading the chase for the 24-year-old, according to TEAMtalk while he's being valued at £50m, which seems a tad high.

13.17 GMT: Spanish newspaper AS report that Arsenal are 'interested' in signing Mexico international Hector Herrera, with Inter Milan also keen.

The FC Porto midfielder's contract runs out at the end of the season and he's had plenty of suitors. But the paper reports he's ready to snub both the Gunners and Inter to play for Atletico Madrid.

12.02 GMT: AC Milan right-back Davide Calabria is of interest to Manchester United and Everton, say the Daily Mirror.

Calabria, 22, came through the Milan academy and has impressed this season. Clearly he has plenty of time to improve, too, so would seem a good signing for whichever club can nab him.

11.10 GMT: Not that it was ever really in doubt, but Kylian Mbappe says he's not going anywhere, despite PSG failing to make the quarterfinals of the Champions League again after defeat to Man United.

"Yes, I am sure to be here next season," he told Telefoot. "With or without what just happened, it was already set. With all of the problems that this elimination will cause, it is pointless adding my personal situation to that. This way, it is clear and accurate."

10.02 GMT: ICYMI from overnight. Sporting Kansas City have agreed a contract with Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem pending a medical, sources confirmed to ESPN FC.

Zelalem, who was born in Germany and moved to the United States as a child, made a splash when he joined the academy of Premier League giants Arsenal in 2013 at age 15.

But, having failed to break into the first-team, the 22-year-old is expected to sign a one-year deal with Sporting KC, who have an option to add a further two years.

09.35 GMT: Tottenham haven't exactly splashed the cash in recent years but all that could be set to change as the Sun claim they are ready to move for Fiorentina's £70million-rated winger Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa, 21, has scored 11 goals in 29 games and is reportedly being watched by Juventus and AC Milan, among others. But is he the man that can turn Tottenham into genuine title challengers?

09.00 GMT: Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar's impressive performances in recent weeks have alerted the attention of north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, according to the Mirror.

The goal-of-the-month winner for February, who has racked up 21 appearances for the Geordies following a bargain £3m move from Deportivo La Coruna, has been at the heart of an impressive upturn in fortunes for Rafa Bentiez's side in recent weeks.

PAPER TALK (By Nick Judd)

Sanchez digs heels over United exit as Solksjaer seeks summer spend

Alexis Sanchez looks set to resist attempts by Manchester United to sell him this summer, even if a potential exit would see his Old Trafford wages continue to be subsidised by the club.

The Chilean has flattered to deceive since signing from Arsenal just over a year ago, and with the 30-year-old scoring just two goals in all competitions this season, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to get the misfiring forward off the wage bill to fund a summer splurge.

Sanchez is on an eye-watering £500,000-a-week at United, and while there has been tentative interest from clubs in Spain as well as big-spending Paris Saint-Germain, The Express claims even they are baulking at the thought of footing the huge wage bill.

Nevertheless, a source close to Alexis says that the former Barcelona man has no plans to leave Old Trafford in the near future.

Van Dijk set for bumper deal to ward off Madrid interest

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is set to be handed a huge pay rise in the coming weeks, with Anfield bosses keen to tie down one of their prized assets.

The Dutchman is the second-highest paid player at the club behind Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, but The Mirror claims that could be all about to change, with the Liverpool hierarchy set to hand the centre-half a new deal worth £200,000-a-week.

Van Dijk's imperious displays at the heart of the Liverpool defence are sure to have alerted Europe's elite. Real Madrid could well be keen, with captain Sergio Ramos' future under increasing speculation, but Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that a new contract will be enough to stop Dutch eyes glancing towards the Spanish capital.

Tap-ins

- Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney has shrugged off speculation linking him with a move to Leicester City, now managed by his former boss Brendan Rodgers. The Scot told The Daily Record that it hasn't taken his mind off the job at hand at Parkhead.

- Former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic and ex-Huddersfield boss David Wagner have emerged as the early pacesetters in the race to become the next West Bromwich Albion manager, following the surprise sacking of Darren Moore.

Sources of The Telegraph understand that there had been concerns around Moore's position since November, while just four wins in 12 Championship games has seen the Baggies' promotion push stutter.
