Beaten twice by rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals and then La Liga, the European champions were then knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax on Tuesday night after a shocking 4-1 second-leg defeat at the Bernabeu saw them fall 5-3 on aggregate.
